Jim Watson was born and bred in the English Lake District and moved to Rugby to take up an apprenticeship with the then BTH Company. He became a draughtsman until boredom set in, then seeking gainful employment became a freelance cartoonist and illustrator. Following where the work was, Jim over the years has written and illustrated travel and walks books, produced advertising material & drawn many urban sketching scenes.
In 2023 Jim's book My Lakeland was awarded the Latitude Press Prize for Illustration and Presentation. Two of his cartoon strips appear regularly in Cumbria magazine while he continues to wander the streets of Rugby seeking new scenes for his restless pen to illustrate.
