The Rugby Football Club is unique in that it bears the name of the game itself, no other Club has that honour. Since its formation in the last century, it has undergone cycles of success and failure but, in this year of the second Rugby World Cup, it has reached the highest peak in its long history. How proud would have been those early players to know that their efforts would one day culminate in their Club becoming one of England's elite.
This book tells the story of the Club from those days back in 1873 when it first came to the notice of the local press up to the 1990/1991 season when it achieved promotion to the First Division of the National League.
